Who is Christopher Williams?

Many people. I share my name with famous singers, actors, football players, and even my dad. But that just gives me more motivation to stand out.

Above all else, however, 4 values make me who I am, and are not subject to change.

1. My Work

Whether completing coursework as a student in UNC’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media, or conducting interviews and creating content as an intern at WUNC, I am truly in my element while covering stories and amplifying others’ voices. I believe the media we consume powerfully connects different people, and it even shapes our sense of reality. As a result, I use interviews and solution-focused content to allow ordinary people to directly influence the content wider audiences receive. This is especially important for members of our society who have historically faced barriers when trying to speak for themselves.

2. My Community

I believe we are only as strong as the people supporting us. As an active member of any community I reside in, I enjoy collaborating with others to plan both social and charitable events. When community members have stronger interpersonal connections, it is easier to organize and stand together while tackling adversity.

3. My Culture

Part of building community is acknowledging the unique experiences and perspectives each member brings to the table. As a Black man in the United States, I understand how important it is to not only see your culture represented, but to see it portrayed in a respectful and authentic manner. My focus on cultural representation ties into both my career and focus on strengthening community ties by challenging the beliefs of viewers.
